Macau , while not being the tourism draws that many other gambling cities such as Las Vegas and Mote Carlo are, is nevertheless a city that is starting to really improve its overall tourism appeal. People are going to Macau now for reasons aside from pure gambling and that is of course one of the best signs for the gambling hub of Asia because it shows that it is starting to mature out of the first stage of tourism and into the second stage. In other words, it is going from a single-tourism draw to a multi-tourism draw and that means good news for the city's economy as well as for all of the different hotels in the area that are not directly related to gambling.
The most common hotel in Macau is still the type of hotel that is affiliated with a casino in some way. These are often known as casino hotels and their main claim to fame is the fact that they have had quite a bit to do with building up the initial tourism pool of people that Macau has been able to rely on. Macau hotels that are not casino hotels have a lot that they owe to these types of hotels because they got things started in Macau well before anyone knew that this Asian city was going to eventually become one of the major gambling and tourism hubs in the world.
The second most common hotel type is the resort hotel. In fact, there are many resort hotels that are also casino hotels because there are casinos located somewhere within the hotel structure. However, what makes the resort hotel different from the casino hotel is that the casino hotel will only have a casino and a hotel with the supporting amenities while the resort hotel will have full service with many other things included as well. Exercise facilities and spas are common to resort hotels but it is not a given that you will be able to find them in casino hotels. Many casino hotels in Macau have over the years become resort hotels as they gained the money to attach such projects to the mix and that is one of the reasons why the number of casino hotels is going down while the number of resort hotels is going up.
Finally, one last casino type in Macau worth mentioning is the famous discount hotel type. Discount hotels are cropping up all over the place in Macau as the city becomes a draw for people that are interested in more than just gambling. Discount hotels lack the massive service levels of the resort hotels and in many cases even the small list of features that casino hotels bring to the table. However, one thing that Macau discount hotels have going for them is the fact that they are dirt cheap to stay at and in the long run that is something that many people traveling to Macau for an affordable vacation stay are going to love.
