Macau is in an area that really does make it perfect for swimming. It has the warm temperate climate that swimming as an activity tends to thrive in while at the same time having a number of different natural and artificial areas in which people can swim. Swimming is the all around activity of Macau since it adds not only to the family vacation that people can take to the city but also to the normal vacation that people take to the casinos of Macau. Swimming is a great way to keep in shape and get some exercise during your vacation and it also happens to be a fantastic way to see the city since you can pick your swimming areas with references to places you would like to see or things you would like to do.
The most obvious places to go swimming are in the hotels that Macau has. All of the higher end hotels in the city have swimming pools and for that reason chances are very good that if you are paying a lot of money for your hotel room there is going to be a swimming pool present for you to use. Hotel swimming pools tend to be the most exclusive and they therefore have the advantage of allowing you to be alone but at the same time hotel swimming pools are also the least natural pools since they are usually inside and heavily treated with chlorine. There are definite trade-offs when you are dealing with hotel swimming pools in Macau .
For those of you that are not staying in a high end hotel in your upcoming journey to Macau there are still ways that you can enjoy the swimming activity without having to rely too much on anything else. There are public swimming pools scattered all over the place in Macau as swimming is very important as an all around activity not just to the tourists but also to the local population. These swimming pools are good because they are inexpensive and allow you to journey around the city and see everything you want to. At the same time however, they are less exclusive in nature than their hotel counterparts and that is something that might rub some people the wrong way.
Then finally there are two beaches located in Macau called Hac Sa and Cheoc Van. These two beaches represent the most obvious non-gambling tourist appeal that Macau brings to the table and the fact that they are usually crowded with both tourists and locals shows that they are very popular destinations indeed. These beaches are the least exclusive venues for swimming but at the same time they also do give you a chance to admire some of the attractive locals while you tan yourself under the natural sun that Macau receives. These beaches are also free to visit and you don't even have to swim if you don't want to, making them the most laid back swimming venues in the entire city.
